PinkLinq vs 7shifts: A Restaurant Specialist or an All-Rounder?

7shifts is built for restaurants and priced per location. PinkLinq works across industries and prices per hub. Prices, add-ons and when to pick which.

The short version

If you run restaurants and only restaurants, 7shifts deserves a serious look. It's built around that world, with tip management, a manager log book and restaurant-specific labor tools. We make PinkLinq, a general app for any shift team, and it costs less at most sizes.

So if tips and POS-driven forecasting are the center of your day, go with the specialist. If you want schedules, a time clock, chat, training and HR for less money, or you're not a restaurant at all, we're worth a try.

What 7shifts charges

From its pricing page on November 6, 2026, per location, per month:

7shifts planPricePeopleAdds
CompFreeUp to 15Basic scheduling, one-way announcements, availability and time off
Essentials$39.99Up to 30Advanced scheduling, team messaging, basic time clocking
Pro$79.99Up to 60PTO accruals, labor compliance and cost tools, advanced time clocking, manager log book
Premium$134.99UnlimitedPayroll, tips, tasks, training, labor forecasting

Annual billing saves 10%. The page doesn't say which billing period those prices assume, so we've treated them as list prices.

Add-ons on the lower plans:

The same team on both

Say it's a team that needs schedules, a time clock and team messaging at one location. We've used 7shifts' cheapest plan with all three, and PinkLinq's Basic plans on yearly billing.

Team7shiftsPinkLinq
12 people, 1 location$39.99$29.00
25 people, 1 location$39.99$29.00
25 people, 3 locations$119.97$29.00
60 people, 1 location$79.99$48.50

Multi-location groups feel the difference the most, because we don't charge per address. Basic covers up to 3 locations, and Advanced covers up to 10.

Where 7shifts is the better pick

Tips. If you calculate and distribute tips, 7shifts has a dedicated tool and can send them on to payroll. We don't handle tips at all.

Restaurant fit. Its screens, its language and its integrations are made for restaurants. It says more than 55,000 restaurants use it, so there's a big community of operators who've solved the same problems you have.

Payroll under one roof. Its payroll product pulls in timesheets, tips and PTO. We export hours for your payroll provider to process.

Free plan size. Comp covers up to 15 employees at one location, a little more than our 10. But time clocking and two-way messaging start on its paid plans.

Android. 7shifts has a mobile app on both major platforms. We don't have an Android release yet.

Where PinkLinq is the better pick

More tools on the free plan. Our free plan covers every hub, including two-way chat, a time clock, checklists, courses and documents, for up to 10 people.

Tasks, onboarding and training without add-ons. At 7shifts, tasks and onboarding cost extra on lower plans, and employee training is listed under Premium. They're part of our hubs on every plan.

Businesses that aren't restaurants. Retail, cleaning, construction, hotels and security teams will find our tools fit without having to translate restaurant language.

Several locations. See the table. A three-location group pays one hub price with us, and three prices with most per-location apps.

Restaurant owners: read this first

We've written a page on how PinkLinq works for restaurants. It covers split shifts, clopens, minors and labor percentage, and it's clear about what we don't do yet, like tips and live POS sales.
